The treatment that is used to kill the cancer cells is known as Chemotherapy. There are several medicines which are given to the body in many different ways. The most common way through which the chemotherapy medicines are given to the patients is through injection or drip. Giving medicines through drip or injection has a disadvantage as the patient is required to stay in the hospital during the period when the dose is being given. But with the invention of chemotherapy pills this inconvenience can now be avoided.

The chemotherapy pills are of different kinds which are made up of different types of chemicals compounds which act on the dither afferent chemical components of the cancer cells. The doctor who is a specialist in cancer prescribes appropriate medicine for the cancer patient as he has adequate knowledge about the different types of drugs which acts on the specific cells.

The alkalating agents are the most common agent or component which is present in the chemotherapy pills. Cisplatin, carboplatin, ifosfamide, temezolomide, melphalan, chlorambucil, busulfan are some of the components which is present in the agent. In order o create a hindrance in the further production of cancer cells this agent destroys the DNA. These agents are non phase specific. These types of agents are mainly used to deal with cancer of the lungs, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, Hodgkin disease, non Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia and many more other types of cancer.

Another component that the chemotherapy drug contains is the Nitrosoureas. The Nitrosoureas consists of the components like Streptozocin, carmustine and lomustine. It is also used for the treatment of malignant melanoma, multiple myeloma and other such cancers. The chemotherapy pill anthracyclines and other pills make up the chemotherapy pills these pills are used as anti tumor agents. The medicines like pemetrexed, cytarabine, gemcitabine, 5-flurouracil, 6- mercaptopurine etc are the different agents that the medicine contains. Thus for patients with breast cancer, gastrointestinal tract leukemia and ovary this medicine is required for the treatment.

There are many agents who help in the treatment of cancer .All said and done the chemotherapy pills are not free from side effects. The drugs of the chemotherapy are given to the body in several ways. One of the common methods of taking chemotherapy drugs is through drip or injection. But this process has a disadvantage. For this one has to stay in the hospital during the period one is given the dose. In order to avoid this inconvenience recently chemotherapy pills are invented.

There are other chemotherapy pills which consist of Anthracyclines and other related drugs. These agents are used in the treatment of tumors as they are anti tumor agent. They react with the enzyme which helps in the reproduction of DNA. Like the first two type of agent it also works in all the phases of the cell cycle. It is used in the treatment of various types of cancer.
